What kind of guitar strings do I need for my acoustic?
I have just got a Epiphone AJ-200S acoustic guitar and the smallest string broke. I don’t know what kind of strings will work for this guitar. I am not a guitar player, I just bought it wanting to learn how to play. I don’t know where I can buy the strings and what kind to buy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

steel or nylon
Either steel or nylon would be fine.
Nylon is what I prefer. I like Elixer strings. they’re coated in this teflon stuff so they last FOREVER. very cost efficent.
I would get steel strings for that guitar. Nylon strings are usually reserved for classical guitars. Pretty much any instrument shop will carry some strings. http://www.musiciansfriend.com is an simple place to shop from. If you break strings a lot I wouldn’t spend too much on them. I personally really like Elixir strings but they aren’t for everybody. Also, unless you really know your strings, it is recommended to just buy a whole new set rather than individual strings to maintain a consistant sound.
It takes steel strings and buy a tuner so you woun’t overtighten the strings the next time and break them. You were lucky it didn’t hurt your guitar, this time
I recommend Elixir Nanoweb light gauge. They’re more expensive than regular uncoated strings but they’re worth it. These are steel strings which is what you need (since it’s a steel string guitar). Ignore the recommendations of nylon; that’s not for your guitar.
You can buy them at a local music store like Guitar Center or Sam Ash or on the internet from Elderly, FQMS, Just Strings, Musicians Friend, or about a jillion other places.
I can’t believe the lack of knowledge some of the people who have answered your question seem to have. NYLON strings are used on CLASSICAL guitars… you have an Acoustic guitar… that takes STEEL STRINGS.
Not all strings are the same… they are a different diameter so you can’t just go buy a string and expect it to work… take the guitar into a music store and have them place a new set on it and then BUY a tuner… so you won’t break another string by over tightening the strings like you obviously did this time.
