What is the best acoustic guitar to get?
I’m starting out and I was going to go electric but someone told me it better to start with acoustic which makes sense. They are cheaper right ? So what acoustic guitar is best ? And how much do they cost ?
BQ – What kind of acoustic guitar did Johnny Cash use ?
BQ2 – Are Fender Acoustics any excellent ?

Well acoustics aren’t better to start out with just because of the price, they are slightly harder to play than an electric which makes for excellent practice in the future, second off the best acoustic guitars are Martin’s and Taylor’s, but you probably wouldn’t want to spend a lot of money on a high end guitar when starting out. Fender and Yamaha acoustic guitars are excellent to start out with since they are pretty cheap and play pretty well.
Oh and Johnny Cash used Martin guitars.
He usually played a Dreadnought-shaped Martin, which produces avery deep tone (to match his voice?).
Ashton guitars are incredibly cheap yet usually have a fantastic, bright tone, and a low action (the strings are close to the fretboard) making it pretty simple to play.
Johnny Cash played a variety of Martin dreadnoughts. Early in his career he played a D-28 and then later went up to a D-45. Martin made him a custom black one and eventually made two Johnny Cash special editions, the D-35 and the D-42JC, both in black end. The cheapest one of these is the plain D-28 and that’s $2,300.
Fender makes mediocre acoustic guitars in my opinion. They’re stamped out in some Chinese factory. In every batch there will be a very few excellent ones, a few terrible ones, and a bunch of mediocre ones. You’re better off with a Seagull, Ibanez, or Yamaha.
