just a different sound and thus a different vibe. The low tuning and heavier strings give a certain kind of richness that is different from standard tuning. Not better or worse, just different.
Because of the heavier string guages the lowered tuning seems to result in normal tension on the neck. I don’t remember having to make any adjustments. The auges I used are:
