There is no way to earn God's love by works and, there is no way we could ever be good enough on our own - only by the blood of Jesus can we be saved. Christians, the people, fight over the dividing lines of parts of their faith but, it is man who is divided and not Jesus. Religion was invented by man so, Jesus came to get rid of all the nonsense and show us how to follow him correctly. Jesus is good... All the time. If you are referring to two generations later then you may be referring to the assembly of the bible as one book but, the letters/books were written during the life of the disciples who were eye witnesses who were sharing the good news with those who had not seen but, who had also heard from other eye witnesses numbering around 500.
