I want to start playing on an electric guitar but to i have to play on an acoustic guitar first??
I have heard that you have to play on acoustic guitar first and then go on to an electric guitar. But i really want to play on a electric guitar because i like the sound of it more.I am plotting on taking lessons so i wont be teaching myself. So is it going to be very hard for me to play on a electric guitar because i have never played on a acoustic??

I started on a electric south paw gibson =D
Not hard at all, people are just BSing you
NO, none of my friends or family started acoustic. we all started electric. but make sure you get excellent lessons! you dont want to waste money on a guitar and not be excellent at it! I did that! but I finally found a excellent teacher!
no, its the same thing, you can start out playing an electric, no problem.
playing electric is simpler, because the strings arn’t as thick and you don’t need to build up caluses as much. although i taught myself using an acoustic. so i perfer learning on an acoustic, and then switching to electric when you get confident enough about your playing.
Both are the same. There isn’t a difference in how simple or hard they are to play. The only difference is the sound. Once you’ve had a couple lessons you’ll be fine with the acoustic. The things you’ll be playing are so basic, and you’ll be so terrible at it, that when you do it right and it chimes like it’s supposed to you’ll be thrilled.
Playing Guitar will change your life. Stick with it!
not really,
I started out on an electric,
after four years of playing I picked up an acoustic,
and played just fine.
:]
I reccomend you buy a fender stratocaster by the way, or a gibson les paul if you have $$$
I don’t reckon it matters. My friend is a guitar player, and he said that most people recommend starting on acoustic first, because the strings are stronger, and they build up your fingers and your callouses better.
i deliberately started of playing on a thick stringed acoustic, learned the basics and swithched to a light string electric. The difference was incredible it is so much simpler it gave me a fantastic leap of confidence and improved my playing.
Electrics are simpler because the strings are thicker and resonate more. But acoustics are cheaper and when you master them, it’s much simpler to get used to an electric, and you’ll have the range of both. Though an acoustic is thinner, it has a sound equivalent to an (ampless) electric guitar. But you can play the electric if you don’t want to bother with the acoustic.
