@danielguitar5150 Both amps overdrive are pretty similar as they are based from the same circuitry.
I’d say if you’ve already got some effects pedals (delay, chorus etc.) go for the HRD Deluxe, they sound fantastic and takes pedals really well. But if you don’t have many effects or are just starting out, get the VM Deluxe, you get classic Fender sounds with the added versatility of having some built in effects, which are there if you need them.
Hope that helps
Josh
i am from guam and am unable to test them out because that specific model is not sold here…so i will be basing my choice from research and incredible demos like this one…so how is the OD of the two amps…is the OD of the Deluxe VM produced from the tubes?
oh and thanks for the helpful answer…i delight in Greg Koch’s demos he is one amusing guy…i loved the jimmy page violin joke…i laughed a fantastic lot
@danielguitar5150 Both amps sound fantastic, and you can get the tones of those players very easily. The Deluxe VM has built in effects (delay, ‘verb and some modulation effects) where as the HRD Deluxe doesn’t.
Best thing to do is try both of them, and then make your choice.
There are some demo’s by Greg Koch of the VM and it sounds really excellent.
Hope that helps
Josh
HRD or Deluxe VM for styles of hendrix, SRV, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Beatles
@cazurro92 it was a made up chord progression just in a Hendrix style. The progression is E major, B7, C sharp minor 7, A7.
Josh
what’s the name of the Hendrix’s song?
@EARLSREPAIRS Thanks man, its a fantastic amp.
Josh
NICE STYLE BLOAK! I just Bought the amp! Fantastic
country, rockabilly rig!
@dynastyification The footswitch comes with the amp. Thanks for the comment.
Josh
Does the amp come with a footswitch or must you buy it separate? Fantastic demo btw.
thanks very much, i’m using ernie ball light top heavy bottom 10-52 gauge strings
Josh
really excellent review. are you using 11s for strings?
@testing123reviews TNX.
No pedals were used in the demo. Just guitar, cable and amplifier.
Josh
W8 man, did you use any pedals in the vid here?
Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.
Josh
this is how reviews should be made
really fantastic one + sweet playing
I’ve tried a using a Huge Muff with this amp and the results were really excellent. It takes a bit of tweaking to find the sweet spot, but if you want to use it on the overdrive channel, it makes a lot of saturation and really screams. I’ve also tried a Fulltone Ultimate Octave with the amp, and that also produces a monster sound with rich harmonics and lots of sustain.
If you can, try one in a shop and take some of your pedals along to try out.
Hope that helps
Josh
hi Josh, what happens with one of those with a fuzz pedal like huge muff for example? I always liked this amp and now I am seriously looking for one but before I place my money on the desk, I just want a shared opinion. I mainly play blues based but altough kinda heavy desert rock. huge stout fuzz is the main ingredient I just wanna know how it goes with this amp.
thanks!
I didn’t get the Deluxe just yet, the faulty tones come from another amp….
Well, never mind then, we’ll see how things will turn out on the Deluxe………
Try the settings I used in the video. That might help.
Josh
Oh yeah, and aaa…. having some crappy distortion tones….. with this Deluxe- Can it cure any faulty tones?
It’ll sound fantastic with your guitar. I really tried a Hot Rod 57 Strat through a Deluxe in a guitar shop, and it sounded really excellent. The Dimarzio Tone Zone pickup really packs a punch.
Hope that helps
Josh
How well will this amp will go with my Stratocaster Hot Rod 57′?
This amp can do a large majority of styles but it can’t do hardcore metal. You are best off going for a Marshall or something like that.
