Easiest ways to learn the acoustic guitar?

Let’s just say I am very busy with not a lot of free time on my hands. What would be the simplest/best way to learn how to play the acoustic guitar?

the simplest way is to get a teacher that knows what they are doing… the only other way is to buy dvds and books but that will take more time… practice practice… and yea you know the rest.

You can learn to play a few songs without a fantastic deal of effort. But, mastering the guitar is another tale entirely. If you want to be proficient (and professional), you need to learn all the scales, all the chords, all the tunings, the circle of fifths, and so on. Needless to say this takes 2 hours a day or more. Music is unlike painting. In painting you learn a technique and without using it in years you can come back and pick up where you left off. With music your fingers forget what to do after just a few days of not practicing.

Remove the strings from your guitar. Play a song from an artist you like and, moving your hand up and down, pretend you are strumming.
